Our world is rapidly changing. We have very close elections and the results can have a massive impact. The world may not look much like what it used to. The demographics and the opinions of the population can swing dramatically. Some changes are good, some may be temporary setbacks (which may in the long run be a blessing in disguise), and other changes are too soon to tell.
I was watching a documentary about Star Trek the other day (I love documentaries) and it got me thinking, “Where is our species headed?” In a few hundred or thousand years, what will life look like on Earth? What will governments and countries look like? Surely our little squabbles and fears today will not matter much. Today’s news cycle will be of no concern. And we certainly cannot avoid the inevitable change that is coming.
We all have essential roles to play, but if we don’t enjoy the ride I assure you we won’t enjoy the victories either. If we don’t have love now, what kind of a world are we even fighting for? There is no destination, there is only progress. It is the tension between opposing forces that prevents our stagnation and indifference. The tension is good! Embrace it. Flow with it. Don’t fight it or fear it.
These days people are worried about everything. Immigration AND population collapse. Artificial Intelligence taking over AND losing our AI dominance to an adversary. Tariffs AND free trade agreements. Globalisation AND isolation. Climate change AND energy dependance. The debt AND austerity.
But just as easy as it is to worry about everything, it’s equally easy not to worry about anything. I genuinely do not worry because I see both sides. I don’t know which way is the best and right way, but I know we’ll figure it out. Humanity hasn’t made it this far by accident. I have faith in us. I have faith in the systems that allow for us to change course. I have faith in this miraculous universe. I think we’ll get to Star Trek, albeit with some road bumps along the way to show us where we’ve gone off course.
Do not resist the universe’s unfolding. Guide it, shape it, but do not fight it. Bend and move with it. There is no conflict unless you choose to oppose reality.
Remember, there are no sides. The lasting solutions will be the ones that benefit all of us. The more you accept the changes, the more you can influence them. Only when we end conflict within us can we end it in the world.
Much love,
Todd

P.P.S. As I’ve been recreating my stolen notebook/diary to release as a book later this year, it’s been taking me down memory lane and sparking lots of old ideas, insights and inspirations I’ve had over the years. I’m going to be posting a lot of these practical tools that helped me get through some tough times on social media a lot more, so be sure to connect with me on Instagram, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and even LinkedIn where I share tips on success and happiness.
