Five minutes a day of intentional positive thinking is enough to start changing how your mind works. Here's the practice — and why our thoughts run negative by default.
Almost all of our thinking is unconscious. It's habit, conditioning, and repetition, and it leans negative because the mind is a survival system built to scan for danger. That worked in the forest. It doesn't work in a life with infinite things to worry about.
The practice is simple. Set aside a few minutes every day and deliberately think grateful, positive thoughts — and feel them as you think them. Thought fueled by emotion is what makes a new habit stick.
There is nothing wrong with you. Illness, aging and death are part of life, not evidence that you're broken.
We are not the mind. The mind suffers. We witness it.
Every interpretation of what happens to us is true. We get to choose the one that serves our life.
