Hello my friend,
With focus, we can choose what we focus on. We can focus on disturbing thoughts and emotions, upsetting events that may happen, which we have no control over, and unfortunate events that happened in the past that we cannot change.
Or, we can focus on the blessings in our life and the positive changes we can make that are in our control. We can focus on healing from whatever ails our psyche, and we can do so in the peaceful and quiet setting of meditation.
Literally every single person can meditate. If you can’t focus, that’s ok. Meditation will help with that. If you have suppressed or repressed thoughts and emotions that meditation brings to the surface, that’s ok too. You can either continue suffering from the consequences of suppression/repression, or you can break free from the worries that have gripped you for so long. If you can breathe, you can meditate.
That’s why I am launching the Meditation for All Challenge. Suffering isn’t caused by world events, our biology, or our difficult past. It’s caused by a lack of focus, which makes the mind wander chaotically, relive our worst moments, and imagine even worse moments. With focus, the mind can rest and become still. Our attention becomes controlled and intentional. Peace, gratitude, and joy naturally emerge. And there is no focus-training quite like meditation.
Every week over the next 2 months, I will share some articles and introduce one new practice for developing a consistent and strong habit of meditation. We will meditate together. I will address your doubts, confusion, and resistance around meditation. By the end of 2 months, you will be more peaceful, more focused, have more mastery of your mind, and have everything you need to become an expert meditator.
If you have any questions — no matter how basic or repetitive they may feel — send them to me by replying to this newsletter. I will answer them and include those answers in future newsletters so others can learn alongside you.
Happy meditating. I can’t wait to get started with you.
Much love,
Todd
